Restructuring the LCBO on-boarding and off-boarding process for the LCBO IT department.

Summary:

While working as a product manager for LCBO|next, one of the main projects was restructuring the internal on-boarding and off-boarding process for the IT department. We were approached by the VP of IT Strategy to implement improvements to this system, which was extremely manual, tedious, and offered a poor user experience. We brainstormed and proposed various solutions, and eventually landed on an interactive web app to be used by hiring managers and administrative staff to act as a checklist for all necessary steps of the process.

 

Upon entering the web app, users can create a new on-board or off-board. Each time an employee is on-boarded or off-boarded, this will be the first step of the process. Then, hiring managers can work through the list of steps assigned to them to complete. Each step in the checklist is associated with a due date, and email notifications are sent when the due date is approaching to remind the owner to perform any necessary actions. As steps are completed, the users can mark them complete to maintain organization and track progress. This web app conveniently lays out the entire process from start to finish, making it both easy to follow and manage. Additionally, the use of notifications will ensure that steps are completed in a timely manner.  Further details will be provided in the near future when the complete case study is uploaded.
